From Wisconsin to the U.S. Virgin Islands, a record number of organizations submitted applications for funding through the Moravian Ministries Foundation in America (MMFA) to do God’s work. Twenty-three institutions are receiving a total of more than $200,000 this August 13.
Donors contributed more than a half million dollars to Moravian congregations, agencies and ministries during this year’s Moravian Day of Giving on March 1. MMFA’s various Field Of Interest funds, which accept online contributions on the Moravian Giving Portal, were well-funded as well. Field of Interest funds help donors support their favorite causes in a general way. Donors do not need to know the different organizations that will deliver the ministry or follow-up to make sure the funds were used responsibly. MMFA makes grants with the funds, based on the applicants with the best projects. A Grant Advisory Committee reviews the applications and recommends grants. The MMFA Board of Trustees approves the recommendations and grants are awarded. MMFA handles follow-up and due diligence to report outcomes.
