Join MMFA’s Laura Watson and a different Moravian pastor at 11:00 a.m. EST on the fourth Tuesday of each month to explore what scripture tells us about both our identity and how we live as God’s stewards. Through a mixture of Lectio Divina and conversation, we’ll learn together and hopefully spark new ways of living generously together in Christ.

What does being God’s steward mean to you?
What does being God’s steward mean to you?Beth: It means taking care of all that God has given to us, from our bodies to our resources, to our time, realizing that we only have them for the time that we are here.
Share a little about a recent gift of time, talent, treasure, or testimony you made that was meaningful to you.
Beth: My family and I participated in the local United Way Day of Caring, which pairs volunteers up with members of the community who are physically unable to rake their yards in preparation for winter. I was able to spend the day with my husband and boys in the fresh air of God’s creation to help someone else. Giving of my time and my abilities are a way that I share my faith and give back to God.
What excites you about what God is doing through the collective stewardship of the people in your congregation?
Beth: Our congregation has started a few new ministries in the past few years. One is laundry ministry which is named “Cleansing Waters” which receives referrals from different community agencies to meet clients at a local laundry mat where we provide the coins, detergent and dryer sheets for them to do a few loads of laundry.
We are also continuing to develop a music outreach to our community where we have collected instruments that are not being used and will loan them out to students/families who many not be able to afford to rent them for school. In addition, we have four teachers who are willing to teach anyone in the community (regardless of income) the instrument in which they are proficient.
Another ministry which is taking off in our congregation is our Tech Team. This group coordinates the online/streaming of our services and is looking to utilize social media to reach out further.
What’s one goal you have for yourself as a steward?
Beth: My goal is to be more intentional about how I am taking care of my body and my time. It is always a challenge in the midst of being a mother and pastor to take the time I need to give to God one on one. I continue to struggle with this and am working to be more intentional about setting aside time in my day, week and year to focus solely on my own relationship with God.
